Chassis

The HK417 utilizes a robust aluminum receiver system with a free-floating barrel and modular rail interface, providing a stable and adaptable platform for optics and mission-specific accessories.

Operation

It operates using a short-stroke gas piston system with a rotating bolt, designed to enhance reliability and reduce fouling within the receiver during sustained use.

Slide

Instead of a slide like a handgun, the HK417 employs a reciprocating bolt carrier group within the upper receiver to extract spent cartridges and chamber new rounds during firing.

Maintenance

Maintenance involves safely clearing the rifle, and cleaning and lubricating the bolt carrier group, barrel, and gas system to maintain reliable performance.
